Fact Sheets & Reference Guides

Understanding how to receive and claim for NDIS supports

Many of our clients and their providers have difficulty understanding the rules and regulations around their NDIS plan and supports. The NDIS is a complex system, and has undergone significant changes in recent years, with many more likely on the way, so it's no wonder that many find it confusing to navigate. Our aim with these guides is to simplify and consolidate information about specific topics that are of the greatest concern to our clients and their providers.

The Issue: Confusion about how to provide and receive NDIS supports

What we've seen

Many of our clients and their providers have difficulty understanding the rules and regulations around their NDIS plan and supports. The NDIS is a complex system, and has undergone significant changes in recent years, with many more likely on the way, so it's no wonder that many find it confusing to navigate.

What are the main issues we come across with invoicing?

Every day we come across invoices for services that do not contain the information that we need to confirm that the services or products invoiced for are compliant. This means that we have to regularly request updates, so we, and the provider, spend more time than we need to, to get claims processed and paid.

Most of the time, there is no concern at all about the validity of the support being provided, it is only that we need a minimum amount of information to be able to confirm the support is complaint. Doing this is important, as non-compliant claims can be rejected by the NDIA, and in some cases can be cancelled by the NDIA even after they have been paid. This could result in a debt being raised against us as the plan manager, the provider who received the payment, or the participant who received the support.

What are we doing to help?

We are creating a series of fact sheets and guides for providers and participants to help them understand specific topics. The guides are based on the most current information and our years of experience working in the NDIS space. The guides and fact sheets will be regularly reviewed and updated as needed to ensure that they remain current.

As we develop these resources, they will be added below. If you have any ideas for future resources, please feel free to let us know by emailing us at pm@boonconsulting.com.au.
